Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Loxapine is a tranquilizer used to treat emotional and mental conditions. It helps control symptoms such as disorienttion, hallucinations, and hostility.
When it is to be taken : Loxapine is usually taken two to four times a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label.
How it should be taken : Loxapine comes in capsules and concentrate i.e., oral liquid. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose. If you are using the oral liquid, it should be diluted. Carefully measure the proper dose with the dropper provided and place it
Special Instruction :
1. Because loxapine causes drowsiness in some people, do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how the drug affects you. This effect should disappear when your body adjusts to this medication.
2. If you are to take loxapine for a long time, your doctor may ask you to have your eyes examined.
3. Keep all appointments with your doctor.
4. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember and take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals. However, if you remember a missed dose when it is almost time for your next dose, take only the scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Side Effects :
1. Dry mouth. Such hard sugarless candy or chew sugarless gum.
2. Dizziness, especially when you get up from a sitting or lying position. Try getting up slowly. Contact your doctor if this problem continues or is severe.
3. Constipation; weakness; stiffness of the arms and legs, jerky movement of the head, mouth, and neck; trembling and shaking of hands and fingers. Contact your doctor; your doctor may have to adjust your dose or prescribe another drug to control these symptoms.
4. Worm-like movements of the tongue, fast heartbeat, difficulty breathing. Stop taking the drug and contact your doctor immediately.
Other Precautions :
1. Drinking alcoholic beverages can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.
2. Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should inform their doctors.
3. Because certain medications can increase the possibility and severity of side effects when taken with loxapine, tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking.
4. Tell your doctor if you have a history of alcoholism, seizures or epilepsy, difficult urinating, glaucoma, severe mental depression, parkinson's disease, or heart disease.

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Lovastatin is used, along with diet changes i.e., restriction of cholesterol and fat intake, to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain fatty substances in your blood. Accumulation of cholesterol and fats along the walls of your arteries (atherosclerosis) decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to your heart, brain, and other body parts. Lowering your blood levels of cholesterol and fats may help to prevent heart disease, angina or chest pain, strokes, and heart attacks.
When it is to be taken : Lovastatin usually is taken once a day initially and then either once or twice a day. Take this medication with your evening meal, or with your morning and evenig meals if you take it twice a day.
How it should be taken : Lovastatin comes in tablet form. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose.
Special Instruction :
1. Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory so that yor response to lovastatin be evaluated. You probably will have periodic blood tests to be sure tht your liver is working properly and to measure the cholesterol and fats in your blood. You may also have regular eye examinations.

5. Ask your doctor any questions you have about a missed dose. Lovstatin must be taken regularly to be effective.
Side Effects :
1. Gas, abdominal pain or cramps, diarrhoea or constipation, nausea, indigestion, heartburn, headache, blurred vision, dizziness, rash, itching. If these effects are severe or persist, contact your doctor.
2. Muscle pain, tenderness, cramps, or weakness with or without fever. Contact your doctor immediately.
Other Precautions :
1. Do not take lovastatin if you are pregnant, think that you may be pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking this drug, stop taking it and contact your doctor.

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is prescribed for eye swelling caused by surgery, infection, allergies, and other conditions It belongs to a group of drugs called corticosteroids. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Viral infections of the cornea and conjunctiva; mycobacterial eye infection; fungal infections of ocular structures.
When it is to be taken : Ophth Allergic conjunctivitis As 0.2% susp: Instill 1 drop 4 times/day for <2 wk. Ocular inflammationAs 0.5% susp: Instill 1-2 drops 4 times/day. May start w/ 1 drop hrly, then reduce frequency gradually. Post-op ocular inflammation as 0.5% susp: Instill 1-2 drops 4 times/day, beginning 24 hr post-op for 2 wk. Administration: Shake the eye drops well just before each use.
How it should be taken : Shake the eye drops well just before each use. • Tilt your head back slightly and pull down on the lower eyelid. Hold the dropper above the eye with the dropper tip down. Look up and away from the dropper. Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) which works by relaxing blood vessels.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : If you are • you are allergic to any ingredient in Losartan • you are in your second or third trimester of pregnancy • the patient is a child with severe kidney problems
When it is to be taken : Losartan is used to slow long-term kidney damage in people with type 2 diabetes who also have high blood pressure.
How it should be taken : Take Losartan orally with or without food. • Losartan should be taken on a regular schedule to get the most benefit from it. • Don’t stop losartan even if you feel well Continue to take it.
Special Instruction :
• Losartan can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting hence use it with caution. • Losartan can cause a serious side effect called angioedema. Consult your doctor at once if you develop swelling of the hands, face, lips, eyes throat, or tongue; • Dehydration, excessive sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea may increase the risk of low blood pressure. Contraindications: Serum creatinine levels exceeding 3 mg/100 ml. Safety and efficacy in pregnancy is not established.

When it is to be taken : For anxiety, lorazepam usually is taken two or three times a day, including a dose at bedtime. For insomnia, it is taken once a day at bedtime. Do not take lorazepam for more than four months without consulting your doctor.
How it should be taken : Lorazepam comes in the tablet form. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose.
Special Instruction :
1. Lorazepam can decrease alertness and coordination. Do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how this drug affects you.
2. Because lorazepam can be habit-forming, do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do nto take it for longer time than as directed.
3. Do not stop taking this drug without consulting your doctor, especially if you have been taking it for a long time.

It inhibits ovulation, prevents transport of sperm or eggs and thus prevents fertilization and alters the lining of the uterus to prevent implantation if fertilization occurs.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Known or suspected pregnancy; hypersensitivity.
When it is to be taken : Contraception Adult: Monotherapy: 30 or 37.5 mcg daily. Monophasic combined oral contraceptive (COC): 150-250 mcg daily. Triphasic COC: 50-125 mcg daily. Oral Emergency contraception Adult: 1.5 mg as soon as possible or within 72 hr of coitus. Alternatively, 750 mcg as soon as possible or within 72 hr of coitus followed by a 2nd dose 12 hr later. Another regimen combines levonorgestrel 500 mcg and ethinylestradiol 100 mcg; may be given within 72 hr of coitus followed by a 2nd dose 12 hr later. *It does not protect against HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases. *It may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. *It is an emergency contraceptive. It should not be used for routine birth control. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other quinolones, children less than18 yr.
When it is to be taken : Orally: 500 mg once daily for 10 to 14 days. Complicated skin infections 750 mg once daily for 7 to 14 days. Uncomplicated urinary tract infections 250 mg once daily for 3 days. Complicated urinary tract infections 250 mg once daily for 10 days. Chronic bacterial inflammation of prostate gland 500 mg once daily for 28 days.
How it should be taken : It comes as a tablet and a solution (liquid) to take by mouth (orally). It is usually taken once a day with or without food. (Ensure adequate fluid intake.) Oral solution: Should be taken on an empty stomach also given as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic.
Special Instruction :
*Two hours time interval should be there in between antacids, didanosine and to this medication. *It may cause dizziness, tiredness. Do not drive a car, operate machinery while taking this medication. *It may make your skin sensitive to sunlight.*Caution should be exercised in patients with history of prolonged QT interval, an irregular heartbeat, nerve problems; a low level of potassium in your blood; a slow heartbeat; thickening and hardening of the walls of the arteries in the brain, seizures; chest pain; or liver disease.
