Butoconazole

Generic Name : Butoconazole

Why it is prescribed
(Indications) : Butoconazole is used to treat fungal and yeast infections of the vagina.

When it is to be taken
: Butoconazole is usually used daily at bedtime for either three or six days. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully. Do not stop taking butoconazole when your symptoms improve.Take all of the doses prescribed. Continue using this medication during your menstrual period. Do not miss doses.

How it should be taken :
Butoconazole comes in the form of cream to be inserted in the vagina. Read the instructions provided with the medication and follow these steps:
(1) Fill the special applicator that comes with the cream to the level indicated.
(2) Lie on

Special Instruction :
1. If your symptoms (vaginal burning, itching, discharge, or irritation) worsen or continue after you have used all of the medication prescribed, contact your doctor.
2. Wear clean cotton panties (or panties with cotton crotches), not panties made of nylon, rayon, or other synthetic fabrics.
3. If you forget to take a dose, insert the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if you do not remember until it is time for your next schedule dose, omit the missed dose and insert the schedule dose. Do not use a double dose.

Side Effects :
Increased burning, itching, and irritation of the vagina are rarely seen. Contact your doctor.

Other Precautions
:
1. If you are a pregnant or breast-feeding women, tell your doctor before using butoconazole.
2. If you become pregnant while using butoconazole, contact your doctor.
3. Butoconazole is safe to use during the last six months of pregnancy
, but its effect on an unborn baby is not known when it is used uring the first three months.
4. Do not allow anyone else to use your medication.

Storage Conditions
:

Butabarbital

Why it is prescribed
(Indications) : Butabarbital, a barbiturate, is used in the short-term treatment of insomnia-to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. It also is used as a sadative to relieve anxiety, including anxiety before surgery
.

When it is to be taken :
Butabarbital usually is taken at bedtimes as needed for insomnia, 60 to 90 minutes before surgery, or three of four times a day for anxiety. Follow the instructions on your prescription lable carefully.Do not take butabarbital for more than two weeks for insomnia.

Side Effects :
1. Drowsiness, headache, depression, excitement, joint or muscle pain, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation, nightmares, increased dreaming. Contact your doctor.
2. Skin rash, itching, sore throat, fever, easy bruising, bloody nose, unusual bleeding, signs of infection. Stop taking the drug and contact your doctor immediately.

Other Precautions
:
1. Pregnant or breast-feeding women should tell their doctors before taking this drug. If you become pregnant while taking butabarbital, notify your doctor promptly.
2. Butabarbital can interact with many drugs. Before you take it, tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking, including anticoagulants, birth-control pills, antihistamines, sedatives, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, steroids, and medications for depression or seizures.
3. Do not drink alcoholic beverages. Alcohol adds to the drowsiness caused by this drug. Before taking butabarbital, tell your doctor if you are allergic to aspirin or tartrazine.
4. Before taking butabarbital, tell your doctor if you have pain, kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, or severe lung disease.

Busulphan

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Your doctor has ordered the drug busulfan to help treat your illness. Busulfan shows or stops the growth of cancer cells in your body. In addition to busulfan, your doctor may have ordered other cancer-fighting drugs; this treatment is called combination therapy. Your doctor may measure the effectiveness of your treatment using laboratory tests and physical examinations. In general, the length of treatment depends on the types of drugs you are taking, how well your body responds to them, and the type of cancer you have.

When it is to be taken
: It is taken in tablet form. Busulfan shows or stops the growth of cancer cells in your body.

How it should be taken

Buspirone

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Buspirone is used to relieve anxiety.

When it is to be taken
: Buspirone usually is taken two or three times a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label. The drug may have to be taken regularly for three to four weeks before its full effect is felt.

How it should be taken : Buspirone comes in the form of tablets and must be taken regularly to be effective. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose.

Special Instruction :
1. This medication may decrease alertness and coordination. Do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how buspirone affects you.
2. Your dose may need to be adjusted occasionally.
3. If you forget to take a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it and take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals. 1. Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, nervousness, difficulty sleeping, lightheadedness, excitement, weakness, numbness. If these effects are severe or persist, contact your doctor.
2. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal or stomach pain, diarrhea or constipation. Take buspirone with food or milk.
3. Dry mouth. Suck sugarless hard candy or chew sugarless gum.
4. Fast or irregular heartbeat, blurred vision. Contact your doctor. Skin rash. Stop taking buspirone and contact your doctor immediately.

Other Precautions :
1. Before taking buspirone, tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking, especially MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine; haloperidol; other antianxiety medications; medication for seizures; sleeping pills; prescription pain medication or narcotics; muscle relaxant; medication for depression; tranquilizers; sedatives; antihistamines; and medication for asthma, allergies, or colds.
2. Ask your doctor for advice about drinking alcoholic beverages. Alcohol may add to the drowsiness and dizziness caused by buspirone.
3. Before taking buspirone, tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or Parkinson's disease.
4. Pregnant women, or breast-feeding women should inform their doctors.
5. Do not allow anyone else to take your medication.

BUPROPION

Why it is prescribed
(Indications) : This medication is prescribed for depression and smoking cessation. It increases the levels of certain chemicals in the brain and reducing the cravings, anxiety, irritability and other symptoms associated with depression.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Epilepsy; eating disorders (e.g. bulimia or anorexia nervosa); hypersensitivity, patients treated with other medications that contain bupropion, in patients undergoing abrupt discontinuation of alcohol or sedatives (including benzodiazepines).

When it is to be taken
: Oral Smoking cessation Adult: Modified-release preparation: Initially, 150 mg once daily for 6 days then increased to 150 mg twice a day. Period of treatment: 7-12 wk. Elderly: 150 mg/day. Oral Depression Adult: Initially, 100 mg twice a day increased to 100 mg three times a day after 3 days if necessary. Increase further to 150 mg twice a day if no improvement has been observed after several week of therapy.

How it should be taken
: It comes as a tablet and a sustained-release or extended-release (long-acting) tablet to take by mouth, without meals.

Special Instruction
:
Patient may develop suicidal tendencies.Avoid using decongestants, stimulants, or diet pills while you are taking this medication. They may increase your risk of seizures. Do not stop alcohol consumption suddenly. Don’t take this medication while you are using other brands containing bupropion. Caution need for patients with history of alcoholism, street drugs use, or overuse prescription medications, heart attack; a head injury; a tumor in brain or spine; high blood pressure; diabetes; or liver, kidney, or heart disease, seizure disorders, bipolar disorders; unstable heart disease; pregnancy; It may make you drowsy. : It is available as injection and administered as epidural or infiltration anaesthesia.

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Bromocriptine is used to dry up breast milk when a mother chooses not to breast-feed her new born baby. It is also used to treat certain tumors in men and women, amenorrhea, a condition in which the menstrual period does not occur in women who wish to become pregnant; abnormal discharge of milk from the breast; Parkinson's disease; and acromegaly, a condition in which too much growth hormone is in the body.

When it is to be taken : Bromocriptine usually is taken several times a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully. If you are taking this drug for amenorrhea, it usually takes six to eight weeks for a menstrual period to occur.

How it should be taken : Bromocriptine comes in the form of tablets and capsules. Your doctor may instruct you to increase the dosage gradually over several days. Be sure to follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Special Instruction :
1. Take only the amount prescribed by your doctor.
2. Do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's approval.
3. If you are taking this drug in an attempt to become pregnant, use a method of birth control other than pills until you have regular menstural periods, then stop using birth control.
4. If your menstrual period is three days late, contact your doctor for a pregnancy test. Women who become pregnant while taking this medication should stop taking it and notify their doctor immediately.
5. If you do not wish to become pregnant, use a method of birth control other than pills while taking bromocriptine.

Side Effects :
1. Dizziness, lightheadedness, and faintness when you arise from a lying or sitting position occrus rarely. Try getting up slowly.
2. If nausea persists, take the medication with meals .
3. Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea are common. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist or severe.
4. Swelling of feet and ankles, palpitations, severe headache, vision problems

Why it is prescribed
(Indications) : This medication is prescribed for neck pain, change in head position, armpit sweating. It blocks the nerve impulses to the muscles or sweat glands.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulations.

When it is to be taken
: Intradermally Inject 50 units (2 mL of reconstituted solution) intradermally into defined hyperhidrotic area in 0.1 to 0.2 mL aliquots to each axilla evenly distributed in multiple sites (10 to 15) approximately 1 to 2 cm apart. Administer repeat injections when clinical effect of previous injection diminishes.

How it should be taken

When it is to be taken : The drug will be injected into a large muscle, a vein, or just under the skin. Occassionaly, small test doses are given to check your reaction before the remainder of the drug is administered.

How it should be taken : The purpose of chemotherapy is to control your illness so that your own body can aid in your recovery. It is important to build up your body's defense system, and a balanced diet is needed to build a healthy body. Ask your doctor for advice on your diet.

Special Instruction :
1. Avoid eating favourite foods, large meals, and spicy or hot foods when you feel nauseated.
2. It is important to keep these areas clean and free from infection. Your doctor may prescribe creams, ointments, and pain medications if you develop painful blisters.

Side Effects :
1. Although not everyone experiences side effects during chemotherapy, some people do. If any of the effects becomes intolerable, let your doctor know.
2. You may lose your appetite, or your appetite may be greater in the morning or at different times during the day than usual. Take advantage of these times and eat. Frequent small meals or snacks throughout the day may be easier to tolerate and will help you get the nutrients your body needs.
3. You may also experience nausea and vomiting. These symptoms may last up to 24 hours after your treatment. Your doctor may have ordered antinausea medications to prevent you from feeling sick.
4. You may develop mouth sores, a rash dark patches or other skin problems within two to three weeks of therapy.

2. Bleomycin may have an irritating effect on the lungs, causing shortness of breath or breathing discomfort. This problem may occur after prolonged treatment or with high doses of the medication.

2. Before you use bitolterol, tell your doctor if you ever had a bad reaction to albuterol, ephedrine, epinephrine, isoetharine, isoproterenol, metaproterenol, phenylephrine, phenylpropanolamine, pseudoephedrine, or terbutaline.
3. Many nonprescription products contain these drugs, so check the labels carefully. Do not take any of these medications without consulting your doctor.
4. Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat), an overactive thyroid gland, diabetes, or a history of seizures.

Bisacodyl

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Bisacodyl, a laxative, is to treat constipation. It also is used to empty the bowels before surgery and examinations such as X-ray procedures using barium enemas.

When it is to be taken :
1. Bisacodyl usually is taken the evening before (tablets) or at the time that (suppositories or enemas) a bowel movement is desired.
2. To empty the bowels, it usually is taken orally the night before and rectally the morning of surgery or an examination.
3. Bisacoodyl normally causes a bowel movement in six to eight hours (tablets) or 15 to 60 minutes (suppositories or enemas).
4. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully. Do not take bisacodyl more than once a day or for more than one week without consulting a doctor.

BEVACIZUMAB

Generic Name : BEVACIZUMAB

TradeName : Avastin®

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is used to cure certain types of advanced lung cancer. It is also used to treat certain types of brain, breast, kidney, colon, or rectal cancer, with other cancer medicines.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Caution need during pregnancy and lactation, elderly, children less than 18yrs.

When it is to be taken : Metastatic Carcinoma of the Colon or Rectum Adults IV infusion 5 or 10 mg/kg every 14 days in combination with IV 5-fluorouracil–based chemotherapy. The recommended dosage is 5 mg/kg every 14 days when administered with irinotecan/5-fluorouracil/leucovorin, and 10 mg/kg every 14 days when administered with 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin/oxaliplatin.

How it should be taken : This medication available in the form of injection, administered by healthcare providers, intravenously. It is usually given once every 14 days to treat breast cancer or cancer of the colon or rectum and once every 3 weeks to treat lung cancer

Special Instruction :
*It may reduce the number of clot-forming cells (platelets) in your blood. Avoid injuries.*Caution should be exercised in patients with history of cancer and heart disease, during pregnancy and lactation.

Side Effects :
. If nausea and vomiting persist, take bethanechol on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after meals.

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Betaxolol reduces pressure within the eyeball. It is used to treat various eye conditions, including glaucoma, in which increased pressure can lead to gradual loss of vision.

When it is to be taken :
1. Betaxolol is usually used twice a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully.
2. Betaxolol must be taken on a regular schedule to be effective.
3. It controls glaucoma but does not cure it.
4. Its effectiveness has be evaluated. It may be necessary to use another drug with betaxolol to treat glaucoma.

How it should be taken :
1.Betaxolol comes in the form of eyedrops. Usually, one drop is applied twice a day. Apply the eyedrops in the following manner:

How it should be taken
:
1. Betamethasone comes in the form of ointment, cream, gel, lotion, and aerosol spray.
