Why it is prescribed
(Indications) : This medication is prescribed for type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood), particularly in people whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet alone. It is used along with diet and exercise.It regulates the amount of sugar in the blood.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Hypersensitivity

When it is to be taken
: Adults Oral: 100 mg once daily with or without food.

How it should be taken : It comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food.

Special Instruction :
*Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication. *Caution should be exercised in patients with history of diabetes, kidney disease, during pregnancy and lactation. *It may lead to low blood sugar, monitor blood sugar regularly.

Side Effects :
METABOLIC- Low blood sugar with other medications.
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM- Headache.
EYE AND ENT- Inflammation of nasopharynx.
GI- Diarrhea, nausea, inflammation of pancreas.
RESPIRATORY- Upper respiratory tract infection.

Other Precautions :
Do not change the dose of your medicine
without checking with your doctor.

Storage Conditions :
Store it at room temperature and in airtight container. Keep away from children.
