Generic Name : Memantine

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication recommended for Alzheimer's disease. It reduces abnormal activity in the brain, improve the thinking ability and perform daily activities more easily
When it is to be taken : Start with 5 mg daily. Increase the dose in 5 mg increments to 5 mg twice daily
How it should be taken : This medication available in the form of tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once or twice a day with or without food.
Special Instruction :
*Caution need for patients with history of asthma, seizures, kidney disease, or repeated urinary tract infections, during pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects :
CNS: Sleepiness, dizziness, confusion, headache. Respiratory: Shortness of breath, GI: Constipation, vomiting. Miscellaneous: Hallucination (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist), extreme tiredness
Other Precautions :
Monitor urine Ph regularly.
Storage Conditions :
Store at 25°C .Keep in air tight container, keep away from children
