Generic Name : EXEMESTANE
TradeName : X'CEL film-coated tab XTANE tab
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are no longer responsive to anti-estrogen therapy.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Hypersensitivity, premenopausal women, pregnancy and lactation.
When it is to be taken : 25 mg once daily by oral.
How it should be taken : This medication available in the form of tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day after a meal.
Special Instruction :
*This medication should only be used by women who have experienced menopause and cannot become pregnant. *Inform your doctor about your pregnancy and breast feeding. *It may lead to liver or kidney disease. *Monitor bone mineral density at regular intervals especially in patients at risk of osteoporosis.
Side Effects :
HEART
Chest pain; hypertension; accumulation of fluids.
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Fatigue; depression; sleeplessness; anxiety; headache; dizziness.
SKIN
Rash; increased sweating; abnormal hair growth, hair loss, and acne.
HARMONE
Hot flushes, weight gain.
GI
Low potential for nausea and vomiting; abdominal pain; anorexia; constipation; diarrhea; and increased appetite.
BLOOD
Abnormally low level of lymphocytes
Muscle AND BONE
Musculoskeletal pain; joint pain.
RESPIRATORY
Difficulty in breathing; coughing.
MISCELLANEOUS
Flu-like symptoms
with fever; hoarseness.
Other Precautions :
Do not administer exemestane tablets to premenopausal women.
Storage Conditions :
Store at 25°C. Store it in airtight container and keep away from children.
