Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Levobunolol reduces pressure within the eyeball. It is used to treat various eye conditions, including glaucoma, in which increased pressure can lead to gradual loss of vision
.
When it is to be taken : Levobunolol is usually used once or twice a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully. Levobunolol must be taken on a regular schedule to be effective; it controls glaucoma but does not cure it. Keep all appointments with your doctor so its effectiveness can be evaluated ; it may be necessary to use another drug with Levobunolol to treat glaucoma.
How it should be taken : Levohunolol comes in the form of eye drops. Your prescription label tells you often to use it. One drop is usually applied at each dose. Apply the eye drops in the following manner:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Special Instruction :
1. Levobunolol can lose its effectiveness with long-term use. Contact your doctor if your vision worsens or if you have eye pain.
2. If you forget to take a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for a scheduled dose, omit the missed dose.
Side Effects :
1. Mild eye stinging or burning and discomfort, redness, and itching; swelling of the eyelids; decreased vision. Contact your doctor if these effects persist.
2. Difficulty breathing, wheezing, shortness of breath, slow or irregular heartbeat, faintness, swelling of feet and legs, sudden weight gain. Stop using the eye drops and contact your doctor immediately.
Other Precautions :
1. Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should inform their doctor. Tell your doctor if you have a history of asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, or other lung disease; thyroid disease; heart disease; diabetes; or myasthenia.
2. Before using Levobunolol, tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking, especially other eye medications, reserpine, and beta blockers.
3. Before having surgery with a general anesthetic, tell the doctor that you use Levobunolol.
4. Before using Levobunolol, tell your doctor if you are allergic
to sulfites.
Storage Conditions :
Keep this medication out of the reach of children. Store it at room temperature.
