Generic Name : FENOFIBRIC ACID
TradeName : AFF film-coated tab® [ Q Check ] LORISK tab® [ Grandix ]
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is used to reduce the cholesterol in patients with obesity problem. It is a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). It slows the production of cholesterol in the body.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Hypersensitivity, liver or severe kidney dysfunction, Caution need for patients with history of preexisting gallbladder disease, during pregnancy and lactation.
When it is to be taken : Lipid lowering agent. Oral
How it should be taken : Per tablet contains atorvastatin 10 mg and fenofibrate (micronised) 160 mg: 1 tab once daily.
Special Instruction :
*Follow the diet, exercise, and weight loss program given to you by your health care provider. *Do not take more than the recommended dose without checking with your doctor. *Monitor Liver function test (LFT) before starting therapy and at 12 week after starting and periodically thereafter. *Stop treatment if patient affected by muscular disease, kidney failure, kidney stones, gallbladder stones, and inflammation of pancreas.
Side Effects :
GI
Inflammation of the lining of the stomach, abdominal pain, Constipation, flatulence, upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea.
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM:
Difficulty in sleeping, lack of energy, headache.
MUSCLES AND BONES
Back pain, leg pain, joint pain, burning feet, and body ache, muscle pain.
RESPIRATORY:
Breathing problem, and runny nose.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Abnormal liver function, numbness in legs.
Other Precautions :
Consultation with doctor needed in the following conditions:muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness.
Storage Conditions :
Store at 25°C. Store it in air tight container and keep away from children.
