Generic Name : Flurbiprofen Oral

TradeName : Flurofen, Proben, Proben-FR

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Flurbiprofen relieves the pain, inflammation, swelling, and stiffness caused by rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

When it is to be taken : Flurbiprofen is taken two, three, or four times a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully. Flurbiprofen is most effective when taken regularly. Try to take it at the same time you do some other regular activity such as eating meals.

How it should be taken : Flurbiprofen comes in the form of tablets. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose.

Special Instruction :
1. Take only the amount of medication prescribed. If you think that you need more to relieve your symptoms, contact your doctor.
2. Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory so that your response to Flurbiprofen can be evaluated.
3. You may have blood tests while taking this drug.
4. Flurbiprofen can cause dizziness. Do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how it affects you.
5. If you forget to take a dose. take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if you remember a missed dose near the time you are to take the next dose, take only regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose.

Side Effects :
1.Headache, dizziness, nervousness, ringing in the ears. Contact your doctor if these effects are severe.
2. Indigestion, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhoea. Take Flurbiprofen with milk or food but not alcoholic beverages. If these symptoms persist or are severe, contact your doctor.
3. If you vomit blood or have bloody diarrhoea or black, tarry stools, stop taking Flurbiprofen and contact your doctor immediately.
4. Changes in vision or blurred vision. Contact your doctor. You may need an eye examination.
5. Skin rash; itching; hives; swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs. Contact your doctor.

Other Precautions :
1. Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
2. Before taking flurbiprofen tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking, especially anticoagulants such as warfarin, aspirin, other arthritis medications, diuretics, and medication for high blood pressure.
3. Do not take aspirin while taking Flurbiprofen unless directed to do so by your doctor.
4. Tell your doctor if you ever had a bad reaction to aspirin or any arthritis medication; gastritis or bleeding from the stomach or rectum; ulcers; diverticulitis; heart, kidney, or liver disease; or high blood pressure.

Storage Conditions :
1. Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of the reach of children.
2. Store it at room temperature.
