Why it is prescribed (Indications) : Ascorbic acid is used to prevent and treat scurvy, a disease caused by a lack of vitamin C in the body. It may be used to supplement the diet of people needing more vitamin C than normal, such as pregnant women, growing children, and people who smoke or have burns, infections, bowel disease, or other types of stress.
When it is to be taken : Ascorbic acid is usually taken once a day. Try to take it at the same time each day, so pick a time that is easy for you to remember. It may take up to three weeks for symptoms of scurvy to improve.
How it should be taken : 1. Ascorbic acid comes in the form of extended-release capsules,tablets, and liquid drops.
