Why it is prescribed
(Indications) : It is an adrenergic blocking drug which causes the relaxation of the smooth muscles of the urinary bladder neck and the prostate thus improving the flow of urine and releiving the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

When it is to be taken
: 2.5mg usually given 3 times a day or as per the doctor's instructions.

How it should be taken : Available as tablets and taken orally.

Special Instruction :
The dosage is reduced in elderly people(2.5mg 2 times a day).The drug shoukd be used with caution in hypertension,renal,cardiac or hepatic problems,and discontinued in angina.Blood pressure must be monitored regularly.Other drugs may be taken only with the doctor's knowledge.

Side Effects
:
Drowsiness which may affect driving or ability to operate machinery,postural hypotension,headache,dry mouth,lack of energy,and dizziness.

Other Precautions :
Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment,severe kidney disease,lactation and intestinal occlusion.

Storage Conditions
:
Store in a cool place.
