Generic Name : Valdecoxib
TradeName : Val-di-co-xib
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It inhibits prostoglardin synthesis by inhibition of cyctooxygenase-2.
When it is to be taken : Osteoarthritis & rheumatoid arthritis: 10mg OD, dysmenorhoea: 20-40mg daily.
How it should be taken : The medication comes in the form of 10 & 20mg tablets.
Special Instruction :
Contraindicated in case of children, hepatic/renal insufficiency & hypersensitivity.
Side Effects :
Anemia, hypertension, back pain, myalgia, nausea, depression, flatulence, diarrhea, sinusitis, abdominal pain.
Other Precautions :
Contraindicated in case of pregnancy
. Avoid in case of lactation. Can be used in elderly. Co-administration with ketoconazole or fluconazole enhances the total plasma concentration of valdecoxib.

Store at room temperature.
