TradeName : Valcivir

Why it is prescribed (Indications) :  It is an antiviral used in the treatment of Herpes Zoster and genital herpes ,and in the prophylaxis of Herpes Simplex.

When it is to be taken : The doseage is usually given for 7-10 days.

How it should be taken : Available as tablets and taken orally.

Special Instruction :
To be used with caution in severe renal and hepatic disease,HIV infected patients,pregnancy,lactation and children.

Side Effects :
Gastrointestinal disturbances,headache,rash.rarely hallucinations,CNS disturbances and renal failure.

Other Precautions :
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity.

Storage Conditions :
To be stored in airtight place out of reach of children.
