Why it is prescribed (Indications) : belongs to thiazolinedione class.improves insulin resistance in patients.It serves as agonist for nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPAR),ppar-GAMMA increases the transcription of certain insulin -sensitive genes,thereby increasing insulin sensitivity.

When it is to be taken : initially 4 mgs administered either as a sinfgle dose or in divided doses.The dose may be increased to 8 mgs once daily or in divided doses.

How it should be taken : It comes in the form of 2,4 and 8 mgs tablets.

Special Instruction :
not recommended in in type 2 diabetes.Avoid in patients with liver dysfunction or alcohol abuse.

Side Effects :
Weight gain,edema,lowering of hemoglobin,increase of total cholesterol.

Other Precautions :
use with caution in the case of pregnancy
and lactation.may be used in the case of old patients.

Store at room temperature in a tight container.
