Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is prescribed for blood cancer(white blood cells) in adults who have already been treated with at least one other medication and have not gotten better. It is a purine analog. It slows or stops the growth of cancer cells in your body.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Kidney impairment; abnormal breakdown of red blood cells, pregnancy and lactation, elderly.

When it is to be taken : Adults IV 25 mg/m 2 /day over approximately 30 min daily for 5 consecutive days. Each 5day course should commence every 28 Refrigerate at 2-8°C. Store it in airtight container..

How it should be taken : This medication available in the form of injection to be injected over 30 minutes intravenously (into a vein) by healthcare providers. It is 28 days cycle with once a day for 5 days in a row may be taken with or without food. Advised to take wholly.

Special Instruction :
*Monitor blood counts and hemoglobin concentration regularly. *Monitor for signs of autoimmune abnormal breakdown of red blood cells either in the blood vessels or elsewhere in the body; * Avoid contact with skin, eyes and respiratory tract. *It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, vision problems, confusion, agitation, or seizures. Do not drive a car or perform other dangerous performance while taking this medication. *Bone marrow suppression may be cumulative and severe increased risk of opportunistic infections.

Side Effects :
Central Nervous system:
Headache, depression, sleep problems. In high dose it may cause blindness, coma, and death.
GI
Stomach disturbance, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, mouth sore.
HEART
Chest pain, irregular heart beat
RESPIRATORY: Difficulty in breathing, pneumonia, severe lung toxicity.
SKIN:
Hair loss, rash, hives, peeling skin.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Fever, chills, cough, difficulty in swallowing.

Other Precautions :
*Do not receive a live vaccine during the treatment.
