Generic Name : Etoricoxib
TradeName : Ebor,Etrik,Kingcox,Torcoxia
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It is a Non Steroidal Antiinflammatory Drug(NSAID)used in treatment of Osteoarthritis,Rheumatoid arthritis and gouty arthritis.
When it is to be taken : The dosage varies and is given once a day.
How it should be taken : It is taken orally in the form of tablets.
Special Instruction :
The dosage is to be reduced in mild to moderate hepatic impairment.
The drug has to be stopped if gastrointestinal lesions develop.
Other drugs such as Lithium,Phenytoin,Phenindione etc may cause unpleasant side effects and some may increase risk of bleeding.So treatment must be monitored.
To be used with caution in pregnancy,hypertension,elderly people and in history of allergy and cardiac failure.
Side Effects :
Gastrointestinal disorders,hypertension
,insomnia,vertigo,headache and renal toxicity.
Other Precautions :
Contraindicated in severe renal and hepatic disease,peptic ulcer,lactation and bowel disease.
