Generic Name : Donepezil
TradeName : DONAZ, DONECEPT-5/10, DOPEZIL
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It is a reversible inhibitor of acetylcholin-esterase
When it is to be taken : Treatment of Alzheimers disease, specially for mild to moderate disease.
How it should be taken : 5 mg once daily at bedtime;if necessary increase to 10 mg daily after 1 month. Maximum dose 10 mg daily in single bedtime dose.

Contraindication: Pregnancy

Side Effects :
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. Fatigue, insomnia, muscle cramps. Occasionally headache, dizziness, syncope, bradycardia, AV block. Convulsions, anorexia, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, GI haemorrhage, hepatitis, urinary incontinence, possibly bladder outflow obstruction.
Other Precautions :
Sick sinus syndrome, supraventricular conduction abnormalities. Susceptiblity to peptic ulcers, asthma, COPD.
Storage Conditions :
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist
