Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It is a laxative used in the treatment of constipation.It is a stool softener and its effect is seen within 1-3 days.It is also used as a ear-wax softener.
When it is to be taken : The dose is given orally or as enema as per the doctor's instructions.
How it should be taken : It is available as capsules,syrup,enema or ear drops.
Special Instruction :
Should be used cautiously in pregnancy,lactation,neonates .
Side Effects :
Diarhoea,nausea,abdominal dramps rash. Enema may cause bleeding.
Other Precautions :
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity,intestinal obstruction and prolonged usage.Enema should not be used if hemorhoids or anal fissures are present. Ear drops not to be used if ear inflammation or ear-drum perforation is present.
