Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication regulates abnormal conditions like disturbed or unusual thinking, loss of interest in life, and strong or inappropriate emotions in adults and children greater than 13 years.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Hypersensitivity, pregnancy and lactation, children less than 18 yrs
When it is to be taken : Adult: Initial dose: 10 to 15 mg once daily. Usual maintenance dose: 15 mg once daily. Adjust dose at intervals of at least 2 week. Max dose: 30 mg once daily, by mouth.
How it should be taken : This medication available in the form of tablet, a solution (liquid), and an orally disintegrating tablet (tablet that dissolves quickly in the mouth) to take by mouth, with or without food.
Special Instruction :
*Caution should also be exercised in patients with known heart diseases, brain diseases or conditions which would predispose patients to low blood pressure. *Do not drive a car or operate hazardous machinery, including automobiles; do not drink alcohol while taking this drug. *Avoid pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects :
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM:
Dizziness; drowsiness; headache;
GI:
Nausea, vomiting.
Other Precautions :
Avoid changing the dose.
Storage Conditions :
Store at 25°C. Store it in air tight container and keep away from children.
