Generic Name : Sevoflurane

TradeName : SEVORANE inhalation soln

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It acts as a general anesthetic during surgery either alone or combined with others. It is given by inhalation. This helps produce more effective anesthesia in some patients.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) : Known or suspected susceptibility to malignant elevated body temperature. Previous hypersensitivity.

When it is to be taken : Inhalation Via a calibrated vaporiser: Induction: Up to 5% v/v w/ oxygen or a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide. Maintenance: 0.5-3% v/v w/ or w/o nitrous oxide.

How it should be taken : Inhalation

Special Instruction :
*Maintenance of blood movement stability is important in patients with coronary artery disease. * It may make the patient drowsy, tired, or weak for a while after they receive it. Do not drive a car, or operate moving machinery, while taking this medication. *Caution need for patients with history of raised intracranial pressure; heart, lung, kidney, or liver impairment, elderly, and obese patients.

Side Effects :
CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM:
Agitation, seizure-like activity. movement disorder in children.
HERT:
Low blood pressure, malignant elevated body temperature,
RESPIRATORY:
Difficult in breathing, increased cough.
GI:
Salivation, nausea, vomiting; rarely
URINARY:
Acute kidney failure, shivering, postoperative liver inflammation.

Other Precautions :
*Avoid alcoholic beverages.

Storage Conditions :
Store at 15-30°C. Store it in airtight container.
