Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It acts as a competitive antagonist at Hi receptors in brain. Its antienetic effect is not associated with extrapyrimidal side effects.

When it is to be taken : Adults: 50-100mg, 3-4 times OD. Inj. 1-2ml inj. Repeated 6hrly, if necessary. I.V.: Dilute 1ml in 10ml isotonic Nacl & inject over a period of 2 minutes. Childrens: 5mg/kg/day in 2-3 divided doses. Not recommended in children below 2 years.

How it should be taken
: The medication comes in the form of 50mg tablets.

Special Instruction :
Inform your doctor if you have CV disease, prostate hypertrophy, asthma.

Side Effects :
Sedation, drymouth and dizziness.

Other Precautions :
Use with caution in case of pregnancy & lactation. Give it in reduced dose in case of oldage. Interacts with alcohol & CNS depressants, amino glycosides and aminophylline.

Storage Conditions :
Store at room temperature.
