Generic Name : Dextroamphetamine

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It stimulates the neurons in the brain and is used in the treatment of narcolepsy, and ADHD in children.
When it is to be taken : The drug must be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor as it is a habit forming drug and is available only with a prescription. It is better taken in the morning to avoid sleep disturbances.
How it should be taken : It is available as capsules and tablets and is taken orally.
Special Instruction :
It is a habit forming drug and as such must be taken only if prescribed. Stopping the drug suddenly, causes withdrawal symptoms to develop so it must be stopped gradually.
It is important to take this drug only on the advice of the doctor , and any doubts regarding dosage is to be clarified.
Any pre-existing conditions or any drugs being taken must be reported to the doctor before treatment is started.
Side Effects :
Nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, sleep problems, headache, irritibality. If symptoms persist or chest pain or heart beat irregularity develops, consult the doctor.
