Generic Name : Betamethasone Ophthalmic

TradeName : Betnesol,Milbeta.Sanbeta.

Why it is prescribed (Indications) : It is a Glucocorticoid which is used for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties.It is used in the treatment of eye infections and allergic and inflammations of the eye.

When it is to be taken : It is applied to the affected eye every 1-2 hours until the symptoms are controlled.

How it should be taken : It is available as eyedrops and ointments.

Special Instruction :
To be used with caution in uncontrolled diabetes,peptic ulcer,osteoporosis,pregnancy and lactation.Infants,children and elderly people must be monitored carefully.The drug must be withdrawn gradually.Other drugs and conditions may interfere with the drug's action so the doctor must be informed.

Side Effects :
Sodium and fluid retention,osteoporosis,gastrointestinal disturbances hirsutism and bruising.

Other Precautions :
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity and systemic infections.

Storage Conditions :
Store in a cool place and use within one omonth of opening
